THE WIZARD OF OZ
VICTOR FLEMING | USA | 1939 | 102 MIN | G | 35MM
Little more can be said about the technical, artistic and pop culture influence of MGM’s 1939 bona fide classic THE WIZARD OF OZ. After a sepia-washed first act of melodic longing, Judy Garland’s Dorothy Gale is transported, along with the audience, into a still breathtaking technicolor fantasy land filled with wonder and mystery behind every turn of the famous yellow brick road. Presented on 35MM at Philadelphia Film Center, our very special Film Essentials screening offers a chance for frequent broom flyers and first timers alike to experience the magic, heart, and songs of arguably the most timeless and revered film in the world.
Cast: Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr
