TO CATCH A THIEF

ALFRED HITCHCOCK | USA | 1955 | 106 MIN | PG | ENGLISH, FRENCH

Hitchcock takes a holiday from his usual suspense-filled dramas and journeys to the south of France for a romantic and thrilling romp of cat and mouse with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. Not one to allow an imitator to tarnish his legacy, infamous burglar John “The Cat” Robie (Grant) is mildly interested in finding out his criminal admirer when he’s not galivating on the Cannes shore with local French woman Danielle (Brigitte Auber). His plan to bait the burglar fails when he gets caught in a whirlwind romance with wealthy, headstrong Frances Stevens (Kelly), a nouveau riche heiress on vacation with her mother. As the two circle each other with innuendo and flirtatious glances, the real burglar may be Frances — stealing John’s heart. TO CATCH A THIEF is an easy, breezy and under appreciated look into comedic romance for Hitchcock and allows the captivating Kelly and Grant to whisk audiences away to another time and place.

Cast: Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams
