After William Friedkin’s 1977 white-knuckle SORCERER introduced the world to the sensually alluring, yet alien electronic soundscapes of Germany’s Tangerine Dream, the band went on to define a wide breadth of cinematic scores throughout the 80s and inspire countless acts to continue the celestial voyage they began. These are those films.
Festival attendees can expect multiple special guest appearances by filmmakers at screenings. From the Centerpiece selections, the festival will welcome RIAN JOHNSON, Director of GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY, and CHINONYE CHUKWU, Director of TILL, both of who will participate in moderated Q&A sessions after their film’s screenings. From the Filmadelphia category, NICK NOLTE will appear with Writer/Director BRANDON ERIC KAMIN on behalf of their new film RITTENHOUSE SQUARE.

We are excited to announce the full lineup of curated programming for October through December taking place at the Philadelphia Film Center. The lineup includes the limited series Love Park and Hogwarts Express. As well as screenings of PURPLE RAIN, THE SHINING in 4K, ROSEMARY’S BABY on 35MM, and ALMA’S RAINBOW in 4K!

The Philadelphia Film Society is excited to announce the full line-up for the 5th annual Philadelphia Film Festival SpringFest! SpringFest will open with Sundance Audience Award winner, CHA CHA REAL SMOOTH from Director Cooper Raiff and starring Dakota Johnson, and will close with GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE from Director Sophie Hyde and starring Emma Thompson. In addition, SpringFest will host the Philadelphia premieres of Dean Fleischer-Camp’s MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON, SPIN ME ROUND starring Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza, and Daniel Roher’s NAVALNY.
